Garbage & Waste Management
The Village of Dakota contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within the community is required to have garbage collection and all residential customers are required to have recycling collection.
Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained properly, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service days. If assistance is needed or you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
For questions specific to trash or recycling pick up, please call the waste management company directly.
Curb-side pick up will typically begin in April and run until fall, weather permitting.
Yard waste will typically be picked up the first and third Monday of each month. The alternative date due to rain or other delays, will be the first or third Wednesday of the month. All dates are subject to change at the discretion of the Dakota Maintenance Department.
All items must be placed at the curb by 6am Monday. Items may not be placed at curb on Friday, during garbage and recycling pick-up.
Yard waste must be in lawn and leaf paper bags. No plastic bags.
Items that may be included in yard waste include grass clippings, leaves, flowers, plants, garden waste, shrubs, twigs and small limbs.
Small limbs and bundled branches must be less than 4 feet in length and weigh less than 75 pounds. They should be placed neatly at the curb.
The Village will only pick up reasonable amounts of yard waste. All removal of items are at the discretion of the Dakota Maintenance Department.
For larger items or additional questions, please contact the Dakota Village Hall.
